Principal photography for the documentary Poly Styrene: I Am A Cliche — which aims to review the life and legacy of Marianne Elliot (aka Poly Styrene of seminal punk band X-Ray Spex —  has been completed. A rough cut of the film and a search for financing to cover the rest of the production costs is underway. A video of the trailer for the film has been released to Indiegogo backers.

I can’t share the video here, but can say that I am personally thrilled with what I saw in the trailer and am excited to see the finished project. I can share an interview with Poly Styrene from 1977, at the height of X-Ray Spex’s and the punk revolution’s popularity. Video below!

‘Negras no Metal’ on Instagram

Came across this awesome Instagram page (Negras no Metal) that focuses on black women in punk and metal bands. In the course of following this page, I have discovered several bands I knew nothing about before! The page is in Portuguese, but it’s packed with so much information that I view it as an invaluable resource. Check it out!
